I released version 2 of Geo
Meter and Geo Meter Free today.
The most important improvement is support of non-straight
path segments. With the introduction of bend-point and bend mode, now you can
bend a path segment. That is especially useful when you create hiking plan. The
following example shows bend-points usage in a hiking trail map.
![]() |
bend-points shown |
![]() |
bend-points hidden |
You will typically show the bend-points while you edit the
path, then hide them when the edit is complete.
I also made a change to Automatic
Screen Fitting or Auto-fit. Previous
version had three Auto-fit direction options: toward north, toward
destination and bounding box. With
bounding box option, the Geo Meter App determined the Auto-fit direction by its
own algorithm which sometimes may not be the best direction the user was
expecting. I decided to give more control to the user, so replaced it with a
new toward set-direction option. You set the direction by
rotating the map, then auto-fit direction will follow that direction when you
choose toward set-direction option.
Another notable change is the reorganization of navigation menu
items and toolbar buttons. I removed the preference settings page and moved settings
items to the navigation menu and toolbox, so that users can have easier and
quicker access to frequently used setting changes.
Other miscellaneous changes include, refreshing UI design,
improving performance and fixing some minor bugs.
